Alcohol/Volume: 13.5%

REVIEW: This ruby coloured Red made from the Italian native grape Nero di Troia is very fragrant on the nose. It has juicy aromas of sour cherry and plum as well as floral notes of violet and rose. In addition, there is chocolate, cedar, leather, cloves, and cinnamon.

The tart fruit follows through on the palate as well as dark chocolate and sweet spice. It is a fuller bodied wine with moderate but well integrated tannins. The acidity is quite lively and there’s a long smoky finish. This one could benefit from several years in the cellar. If you wish to enjoy now, make sure to decant it first.

Tasted January 2019

WINE-FOOD PAIRING: This wine pairs well with roasted red meat or with sharp Italian cheese. I also tried it with a piece of dark chocolate and it was tasty.

SCORE: 90
