Alc./Vol.: 16 %

Review: An opulent wine that is floral on nose with aromas of dried violet petals followed by sour cherry, strawberry, dark fruit, leather, damp cedar, undergrowth, roast beef, menthol, and baking spice.

It has oomph on the palate and is full-bodied. This wine needs food! In terms of flavours, it has dark fruit, blueberries, toasty wood notes and a very bitter espresso finish.

Tasted March 2019.

Wine-Food Pairing: This wine was bought to try with a few different types of dark spicy chocolates. The chocolate took away the bitterness from the wine. This would also pair well with venison or peppered steak in a mushroom sauce, lamb, or with aged cheese.
