REVIEW: Derek Barnett’s fourth edition unfiltered Cabernet Franc does not disappoint. Enticing notes of plum, stewed strawberry, dried eucalyptus, autumn leaves and rose petals, with subtle herbs, cedar, beetroot, cocoa, and savoury nuances.
Medium to full bodied, the palate delivers juicy black cherry and cranberry notes with dark roasted coffee undertones. The acidity is fresh, the tannins are gentle and well-integrated, and the flavours linger.
Tasted October 2024.
PAIRING: Herbed roast beef, bison burger, or a roasted vegetable and mushroom dish pairs nicely with this wine. I enjoyed my glass with grilled steak pictured here.
